In Tral, Gunmen Trying To Loot Bank Pelted With Stones4 December 2017
Awantipora: People in Noorpora village of Tral disrupted a bank robbery on Monday by hurling stones on the gun-wielding robbers, who the police said were none other than Zakir Musa and members of his Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind outfit. Locals told Kashmir Reader that after a group of gunmen barged into the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Noorpora village, the guard at a nearby ATM downed the shutters and raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of locals who came and hurled stones at the robbers. 'People flocked towards the bank branch and started pelting stones at the bank building, forcing the gunmen to leave the bank in haste,' an eyewitness said, adding that the militants left the bank in a hurry and fired about ten to fifteen rounds in the air to flee from the gathered people who were hurling stones on them. Before they fled, the gunmen managed to decamp with about one lakh rupees. Police said that three militants barged into the J&K Bank at Noorpora and took away cash of 97,856 rupees and also damaged computers at the bank branch.Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Kashmir, SP Pani, told Kashmir Reader that the robbery happened at around 2 in the afternoon when the employees were having lunch. He said that Zakir Musa was among the militants who robbed the bank. 'Three militants, including Zakir Musa, the chief of the newly formed Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, were involved in the robbery,' the DIG said. He appreciated the role of local people in foiling the bank robbery. The DIG said many computers were damaged as the gunmen vandalised everything that came in their way. Police said that the area was cordoned off and a manhunt launched in Noorpora village and surrounding areas to nab the militants.An FIR (number 139- 2017) has also been registered over the incident. Noorpora is the native village of Zakir Musa, who parted from the Hizbul Mujahideen this year and formed his own outfit, the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
