More Terrorists Killed In Jammu And Kashmir This Year

New Delhi: In a marked attrition of ultras in Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces have liquidated 140 terrorists this year which exceeds the figures for the jehadis killed between 2013 and 2015 put together. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the number of such terrorists killed till November 27 this year was 140 in Jammu and Kashmir. The corresponding figure was 38, 52 and 46 in 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively. The number of terror attacks also spiralled up this year, rising from 208 last year to 305 till November this year. The number of security personnel killed this year is 71 compared to 39 last year, almost 80 per cent rise. There has also been over 100 per cent increase in the injury suffered by security forces - 208 this year compared to last year's 103. However, there has been a marginal decline in the number of civilians killed this year, from 17 last year to 14 this year. The minister informed the Lok Sabha that Pakistan had violated ceasefire 437 times along the LoC and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir till November this year in which 37 people were killed and 179 suffered injuries. He said 27,449 people living along the border in the State were shifted to safer places due to ceasefire violations following the surgical strikes. Of the total ceasefire violations, 216 incidents were reported along the Line of Control (LoC) and 221 incidents along the International Border till November this year. Nearly 700 people have been still living in relief camps while the rest have returned to their respective homes. There were 405 incidents of ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border in 2015 in which 26 people were killed and 97 others were injured.
