Army Gets Overwhelming Response On Day 1 Of Three Days Recruitment Drive

Srinagar: The army in Kashmir has received an overwhelming response on day 1 of three days recruitment drive. Over 4000 Kashmiri youth from Kupwara district arrived at the rally site for 55 vacancies. A defence spokesperson said that the lure of adventure, dignity and selfless service was conspicuously evident on the zealous faces of over 4000 candidates who came for the recruitment rally in Kupwara today. He said three days rally of recruitment in Territorial Army commenced at Panzam garrison for aspirants of a Kupwara, Kralpora, Tregam, Machal, Sogam, Lalpura and Drugmulla Tehsils for whom physical tests were conducted today. Physical tests for the aspirants hailing from Karnah, Keran, Handwara, Langate, Vilgam and Taradhpora Tehsils will be on 20 May while the candidates from Bandipora district will go through these tests on 21 May. Intelligence test, Trade test and Interviews for candidates who are successful in physical tests will be conducted on 22 May and 23 May . A total of 55 vacancies exist out of which 52 vacancies are for Soldier (General Duty) (Class X min 45% overall marks and 33% marks in each subject), one for Washerman (Simple X Pass) and two for Clerk (SD) (Class XII min 50% overall marks and 40% marks in each subject). While recruitment for Soldier (General Duty) is open only for Kupwara region, tradesman and Clerk vacancies are open to entire J&K (less Kathua and Samba Districts). This recruitment rally provides a golden opportunity to the youth residing in remote areas of the state to join the Indian Army and contribute towards building a better Nation and improving their socio - economic status.
