Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders Thursday castigated Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley statement that 'alliance of Peoples Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party was formed to fight separatists in Jammu and Kashmir'. Hurriyat leaders termed the statement as ironical and said the Jaitley's remark has exposed the 'real agenda' of the Peoples Democratic Party. Jaitley recently in Jammu told media that his BJP party despite being totally ideologically different from the PDP entered into alliance with the later to fight separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. 'The remark of Jaitley has exposed the real agenda of the PDP, which deceived people with the hollow slogans like engagement of Hurriyat in talks and respecting peoples' sentiments,' chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told Rising Kashmir. Mirwiaz said, 'The remarks of Jaitley has cleared that PDP has only deceived people by raising hollow slogans. It has also cleared the agenda of New Delhi towards Kashmir and its people.' 'The recent killings of four innocent persons by Army in Handwara have been carried out on the same directions. New Delhi is tackling each issue with military might,' he said. Mirwaiz said that present coalition government has squeezed the political space of Hurriyat. 'We are not being allowed to mourn the death of our innocents killed by Indian forces. We are not even allowed to hold meetings and seminars,' he said. 'The PDP's slogans of battle of ideas has turned hollow as Hurriyat activists are being detained and not allowed to meet people,' he said. Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani said that statement of Jaitley has once again proved that PDP was created by Indian agencies to muzzle the voices of Kashmiris. 'PDP is agency creation and brains like Ajeet Doval are behind it. The statement is not surprising as we already know that this PDP was created with green flag to show it as a pro- Kashmir party to deceive Kashmiris and muzzle their voices for Kashmir-struggle,' Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesperson told Rising Kashmir. He however, said that such 'anti- Kashmiri and Anti- Hurriyat policies' would never succeed. 'People have defeated them in the past and will do that in future. The sentiment of Kashmiris has grwon stronger in past decades despite India resorting to all unjustified options to break down Kashmiri's will,' he said. He said that Indian must understand the writing on the wall and know the ground realities of the Kashmir issue. 'These tactics will never affect our resolve,' he said.
