Srinagar: All eyes are on the PDP legislators' meeting on Thursday where party chief Mehbooba Mufti would be anointed as legislature party leader, paving the way for her to become the first woman Chief Minister of J&K. Mehbooba, who returned to the Valley on Wednesday after holding deliberations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day ago in New Delhi, would hold the important meeting at her Fairview residence at Gupkar. Mehbooba had described her meeting with Modi as positive, which indicated she would hold the fort two and half months after her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's demise. Governor NN Vohra, who is currently holding the charge of the state, on Wednesday in a separate communications asked both the PDP and BJP chief's for a meeting on Friday. In the meeting, the parties would stake their claim to the government. Since January 8, when the state came under direct central rule, Mehbooba had been seeking 'confidence building measures' and 'full implementation of the Agenda for Alliance' the two parties had agreed on when they formed the government in March last year. The saffron party has repeatedly refused to accept any new demands, and on Wednesday former RSS leader and BJP's Kashmir minder Ram Madhav told media that there was no special demand from its former coalition partner. He threw the ball into the PDP's court saying that the party has to make the next move. 'No special demand was raised by the PDP. The PDP legislature party meeting will be held tomorrow (Thursday) and we will take action after that,' Madhav said. Though the Modi-Mehbooba meet gave a fillip to government formation, it is still being seen as a sign of the PDP's 'surrender' before the saffron party in the Valley. The opposition has charged the PDP with 'wasting time' by delaying government formation.
