Pulwama: Government forces on Wednesday launched a massive search operation in Pulwama villages after militants, believed to be over ten in number, opened fire on them. Superintendent of Police (SP) Pulwama, Rayees Ahmad Bhat told Greater Kashmir that they have launched a search operation in several villages after militants opened fire on them in Wandakhpora village. Sources revealed to Greater Kashmir that around a dozen militants were holding a meeting in fields when forces launched a search operation. 'They (militants) were holding a meeting when a cordon was being laid to the Wandakhpora village. But they opened fire on the forces and have most probably escaped,' they added. Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot and a cordon has been laid around Wandakhpora, Goripora and Kunjipora villages, said a police official.
