New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is likely to retire from active politics, owing to his bad health, paving way for his daughter and MP Mehbooba Mufti to become the state's new Chief Minister. Sources told focusnews.com that People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti is keeping unwell since past few months and hence the party leadership has decided that the time has come to make the change. Sources added that the change could be as early as in September itself. According to reports, Mufti Sayeed, who on Monday returned to Delhi after undergoing medical test at Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital, will be flown to United States in mid-September. Earlier last week, Mehbooba Mufti stopped mid sentence while speaking about her father and broke down during a party meeting in South Kashmir. 'He is not in the best of his health. He has sent greetings to all of you,' Mehbooba said after a long pause. She gathered herself up and continued the speech by asking the party workers to pray for the long life of her father. However, speaking to media earlier on Monday, Mehbooba Mufti said that her father has returned to Delhi and will leave for Kashmir on Tuesday. 'If people will speculate, what can I do,' she said.
