Former Militant Shot Dead In Kashmir's Sopore

Srinagar: A former militant was shot dead outside his home in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday, police said. 37-year-old Meraj-ud-Din Dar son of Muhammad Ishaq received bullet injuries in his face after unidentified gunmen fired at him in Badam Bagh area of the town at 8:30 am, they said. Dar, a former member of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), ran a poultry shop in a nearby market. This is the third killing in Sopore in the past 10 days. Earlier, a Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist was killed by unidentified gunmen in New Colony Sopore. Two days back, a trade union leader Khursheed Ahmad was shot dead in Bomai area. No organisation has so far claimed the responsibility of the attack.
