Govt Formation No Substitute To Kashmir Solution: Mirwaiz
27 February 2015
: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday asserted that government formation can never be a substitute to Kashmir resolution as such processes going on in the state since 1947 have failed to make any difference on the core issue. Addressing Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz said JK has been witnessing change of guard since 1947 but Kashmir issue continues to linger on. 'I believe government formation can never be a substitute to Kashmir resolution. Kashmir resolution is linked with the fate of 1 .30 crore people,' he said. 'Government of India must realize this ground reality and take steps towards resolution of the vexed issues. Hurriyat is ready to give support to both, India and Pakistan in this regard.' He said BJP government in New Delhi must have understood that the genuine leadership of Kashmir and its people would never allow Kashmir issue to be put on the backburner. 'The two nations should accept the ground realities and acknowledge they can't prosper unless the main issue of Kashmir is resolved as per the aspirations of the people,' Mirwaiz said. 'The two nuclear powers must understand that the mistrust between this is only because of Kashmir issue.' The Hurriyat chairman said he hopes that the BJP government in New Delhi must have realized that dialogue is the best way to resolve the pending issues. 'I am hopeful that New Delhi must have accepted the reality that Kashmir needs to be resolved keeping in view its historic perspective,' he said. 'The concept of new India, peace, stability, economic prosperity (of India) is impossible until BJP leadership takes positive steps towards Kashmir resolution,' Mirwaiz said. About the Indo-Pak foreign secretary level talks, Mirwaiz said it was a welcome step. 'Hurriyat has always wished friendly ties between the two countries. 'We believe there is a need that two powers must come closer and resolve all pending issues. The real friendship between India and Pakistan can only take place when the main issue of Kashmir is resolved,' he said. Mirwaiz also urged the leaders of SAARC countries to take pains in understanding the essence of resolution of the vexed Kashmir issue. 'The SAARC countries must ensure that Kashmir issue needs a resolution as per the wishes and aspirations of people,' he said. 'Kashmir issue must echo in each summit, be that of SAARC, G8 or G2.'
