New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday denied the presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) elements in the state, while clarifying that the waving of ISIS flag in the valley was just an act of 'some idiots' that 'unfortunately' caught the media's attention. 'You have to understand that no ISIS group has been identified so far in the valley. The flag of the ISIS was waved by some idiots, which does not mean that ISIS has any presence in Kashmir,' Omar told reporters after meeting home minister Rajnath Singh here. He said the flag was waved on three occasions by some youths for some time and in each matter, a case was registered and some arrests made. 'The tailor who made this flag has also been identified and action is being taken against him. To say that the issue is being ignored and no action is being taken by the state government is absolutely wrong,' Omar said. Meanwhile, Omar welcomed the opening of a channel of communication between the border forces of India and Pakistan, saying that flag meetings were important as tension could be reduced through dialogue and ceasefire restored. Omar said he discussed with the home minister the steps taken for relief and rehabilitation in J&K areas affected by the recent floods. He said his government had on Monday submitted a memorandum of demands to the Centre, following which an interministerial team is expected to visit J&K to assess the damage and finalize a package.
