Tulmulla Shuts Against Arrests; Locals Hold Peaceful Protests

Ganderbal: Tulmulla area in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district Sunday observed shutdown against the arrest of four youth from the area. All shops and business establishments remain closed while hundreds of people from the area held a peaceful protest demonstration against the arrests and demanded immediate release of the arrested youth. 'We demand immediate release of youth who have been arrested following protests earlier here,' a local said. Locals demanded that in view of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr the youth should be released. Meanwhile some locals met senior officials of police in Ganderbal and demanded release of the youth. 'We met SP and other officials today; they assured us that youth will be released by Monday,' village head of Tulmulla told Rising Kashmir. Police had arrested four youth from Tulmulla area following protests and clashes on Friday evening.
