Hurriyat-M To Call Intra-regional Meet
12 July 2014
: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) today announced that his faction would soon call an intra regional conference on Kashmir. He added that during the conference representatives from all the five regions of Jammu and Kashmir would participate to build a consensus and chalk out the future strategy in connection the Kashmir solution. Mirwaiz was addressing a seminar- '13 July 1931- beginning of the chapter of freedom struggle'- organized by his faction here. Paying glorious tributes to July 13 martyrs, Mirwaiz stated that the martyrs laid their lives to end the authoritarian rules which was subjecting Kashmiris to interminable sufferings. 'The struggle started by the martyrs still continues. The struggle would continue till their mission is fulfilled. Despite 83 years of passing this incident several such incidents were repeated again and again. Unlike the despotic rulers of 1931, Kashmiris are being fought by the Indian union on several fronts,'he said. Coming heavily on pro-Indian parties, Hurriyat (M) chairman stated that those people who claim to be democratic and want to take lead in paying tributes to July 13 martyrs were actually the main culprit who got Kashmir plunged into authoritarian rule after its ancestors successfully fought against the despotic monarchs. He said army and police were masking the democracy in Kashmir and it was by shear use of force that 'our political social and religious activities were restricted.' He said in 1947, India and Pakistan got independence, but independence of Kashmir was usurped. Mirwaiz stated that Kashmiris were optimistic that new government in India would treat Kashmir as a political and human issue. However, he stated that instead of displaying political maturity, like past, the new dispensation too was treating Kashmir as an economic issue. Mirwaiz said truth was that Kashmiris never accepted the Indian suzerainty, adding, they have already rejected the financial and economic grant as a substitute to freedom. He stressed upon the UN and OIC to play their role instead of becoming ally to the western countries. 'Palestinians are being bombed by Israelis, but UN is silent. Situation continues to be worst in Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Palestine, but OIC has not spoken a word. Mirwaiz said that the strike on July 13 would not only be observed to commemorate the July 13 martyrs, but also against the aggression of Israelis against the Palestinians. He stated that Kashmiris would protest against the Israeli barbarism.
