Three CRPF Men Injured In Baramulla Attack

Srinagar: Three troopers were injured yesterday when guerrillas attacked a paramilitary camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on the eve of polling to the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat, police said. A senior police officer said here that militants attacked Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Sopore town of Baramulla district, 54km from here, yesterday evening. 'Militants fired at the CRPF camp located in the State Bank of India building in Sopore town today evening. Three CRPF personnel have been injured in the attack. An operation has been launched to trace the militants,' the officer said. The attack has come less than 12 hours before the north Kashmir Baramulla Lok Sabha seat goes to vote today. Earlier yestertday, militants hurled a petrol bomb at a school building in Watergam village of Baramulla district. Giriraj Singh surrenders, granted bail Patna: BJP leader Giriraj Singh yesterday surrendered in a Bihar court in a case related to making hate speeches during the Lok Sabha election campaigning and was later granted bail, a lawyer said. He surrendered in the judicial magistrate's court in Patna. The court granted him bail after accepting his bail bond. He was out on anticipatory bail granted by the district court in the case on April 25. The court granted bail to him over his remark that critics of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be sent to Pakistan, his lawyer Janardan Rai said. 'It is a big relief for Giriraj Singh as a court here has granted bail to him,' Awadesh Kumar, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, said. Three FIRs were lodged against him at Deogarh, Bokaro and Patna for his hate speeches. Last week, the Jharkhand High Court granted him bail in the case registered with the Bokaro police station. Probe into Vadra land deals Jaipur: The Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan has launched a probe into land deals of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in the state when the Congress was in power. 'The state government has directed collectors of Jodhpur, Barmer and Bikaner districts to gather information on deals and draft a factual report,' sources in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO)said.
