Srinagar: Reacting to the statement of Pakistan's Army Chief wherein he termed Kashmir as 'Pakistan's jugular vein', Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Friday took strong exception to the statement saying Kashmir was neither an integral part nor is it a jugular vein of any country. Spokesperson of JKLF led by Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement to KNS said, 'People of Kashmir have always strived for their land that belongs to them only.' It added history bears witness to the fact that people of Kashmir have strived and asserted themselves only for the 'liberation from clutches of excesses.' He said when Mughals occupied Kashmir in 1586, it was the people of Kashmir who resisted their presence despite the fact that rest of the world welcomed Mughal rule. 'During all the times whenever Kashmir was occupied by the foreign forces, it is the people only who fought for the liberation of their land,' maintained the JKLF tele-statement, adding the claims of integral part or the jugular vein are only being nullified by the people itself. Pertinently, in 1998- when the secretary of Pakistan' Prime Minister office issued the statement claiming that the country represents Kashmir cause, Kashmir's separatists reacted in unison terming the statement a 'supercilious', that forced the PMO office to issue the rebuttal later.
