Srinagar: A strict curfew was on Thursday imposed in parts of Srinagar to prevent protests against the killing of a 24-year-old youth here a day earlier. Bashir Ahmad Bhat was killed as a trooper fired after an attempt was allegedly made to snatch his rifle. Reports said protests were held in places like Bandipora, Pulwama, Pampore and Budgam on Thursday against the killing. Separately, the CRPF denied involvement of its troopers in the shooting incident as authorities ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing. CRPF PRO Kishore Prasad said, 'Our men didn't open fire. There were other forces as well.'
