Srinagar: Ahead of polls National Conference has started playing autonomy card once again and this time party patron minced no words to castigate Vajpayee's 'Insaaniyat' policy and alleged that the same Vajpayee without going through Autonomy Draft passed by Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly with one voice threw that in dust bin. Pertinently, during 2002 Assembly elections, NC wooed the voters by raising Autonomy slogan but surprisingly remained mum over the issue after coming to power in the state. National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah Saturday asked the government to re-look into his proposal to grant autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that BJP is anti-Kashmiri party that is hell-bent to abrogate the Article 370. Addressing party workers and talking to reporters at Nawai-Subha Complex, Dr Farooq Abdullah boasted that he is himself 'Manifesto' and there is no need for his party to come up with a manifesto. Like in the past, this time as well while making a strong pitch for autonomy, Dr Farooq Abdullah referred to a conversation he had with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee after J&K Assembly had passed and sent the proposal to the Centre. 'Vajpayee told me it was dead impossible and that there was strong opposition but when I asked him if he had read it, he confessed he hadn't. I pleaded with him to take a look at it and tell me the criticism in the proposal. I said I was willing to change anything which was objectionable. 'Every Union Cabinet Minister was present there and without going through the Autonomy Draft, they rejected it,' he said adding that Autonomy is our right and we shall have it. He sought to know why the recommendations of the Justice Sagheer Ahmed it had called for restoration of autonomy were not being implemented. He also hit out at the BJP and PDP in same tone saying these parties were facing total rejection from electorate. Coming down heavily on People's Democratic Party, Dr Farooq Abdullah said that it was on the brink of annihilation. 'The PDP is on the brink of annihilation while the BJP is facing total rejection (from people of JK),' NC patron said adding that his party is ready to quit the chair on the condition that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed stop exploiting Kashmiri people.
