Srinagar: A senior pro-India politician Thursday accused the pro-Pakistan Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani of making attempts to destabilize their government in Indian administered Kashmir. Terming Geelani as the biggest hurdle in peace and dialogue process, additional general secretary of the ruling National Conference (NC), Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal accused Mr Geelani of provoking Kashmiri youth to indulge in stone-pelting. “Stone-pelting in Kashmir is Geelani’s brainchild. He feels content when anyone gets killed as his politics thrives on disturbance,” Kamal said. Dr Kamal came down heavily on Mr Geelani for announcing public rallies ‘on daily basis’ with the intention of disturbing peace in Kashmir. “Geelani’s only purpose is to destabilize National Conference in Kashmir. What is the need of visiting Tral and announcing programs in Lal Chowk? Why do you want to disturb peace? If government allows him to address people in Lal Chowk, he will himself realize where he stands,” Kamal said, brushing aside the massive public support that Geelani’s recent rallies evoked in different parts of Kashmir. Ruling out any pre-poll alliance with Congress party for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Kamal said he was not in favour of such arrangement, “It is my firm belief that any pre-poll alliance with Congress will cost us heavily. I don’t want any alliance with Congress party as National Conference has its own identity,” Kamal told Srinagar based CNS news agency.
