3 Kids Among 5 Hurt In Pak Firing On LoC

Jammu: Five civilians, including three minors, were injured when Pakistani troops on Thursday fired at Indian posts in Akhnoor sector, about 35 km from here, along the international border. This was the eighth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in four days. Five people were injured after Pakistan Rangers opened fire at Najwal, a forward village in Akhnoor. 'Three minors and their grandmother sustained injuries when a shell exploded near their home,' said a police officer from Akhnoor. Another woman was injured in the firing from across the border. 'Pakistan troops started firing across the border at around 1250hrs. Indian troops retaliated,' sources said. The intermittent firing continued for several hours. Sources said the firing by Pak Rangers started during suspicious movement of some people along the international border, prompting retaliation by the BSF troops. On August 15, a civilian was injured in Poonch sector when Pak troops resorting to firing. Two more civilians were injured in Poonch on August 22 in Pak firing along the Line of Control in this border district.
