Minor Injured, House Damaged In Firing By Pak Troops

Poonch: With no respite in ceasefire violation incidents across the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan troops again opened unprovoked fire on Indian forward posts injuring a minor and damage to a house in Shahpur sector of Poonch district. Official sources said that Pakistani troops targeted civilian areas with heavy, medium and light weapons. They said that this morning at around 9.30 PM, troops of 641 Mujahidin opened unprovoked firing in Shahpur Sector from their forward Posts Nazapir, Noona Wali Dhok and Ring Control aiming at Indian forward posts Sher, Shakti, Boragali and firing continued till 4.30 PM. A minor identified as Showkat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sharief, of Kuian, Poonch was injured in firing. Army troops along with locals rescued both the injured to District Hospital from where doctors referred him to GMC hospital Jammu for advance treatment. A house also suffered partial damages in Pak firing. Indian troops of 3 Gharwal Regiment initially restrained them and did not open fire. However, as other side continued fire, Indian troops also repulsed using equal caliber. The exchange of firing stopped at around 4.30 PM. Army officers confirmed that there was firing from light and medium range weapons including LMG and MMG on forward Indian posts along LoC in Shahpur sector of Poonch district. The three ceasefire violations took place after three days of lull along the LoC. Earlier, guns fell silent after Pakistani troops fired on Indian positions in Pallanwala sub-sector in Jammu district on August 29.
