Curfew Continues In Kishtwar, Relaxed In Parts Of Jammu

Jammu: Curfew continued on Wednesday in Kishtwar for the sixth consecutive day while restrictions were partially lifted in Samba district and other areas of Jammu region. The markets in Jammu witnessed a heavy rush after curfew was relaxed for three hours. 'The curfew has been relaxed in the entire district including Jammu city except Kishtwar,' said Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu. He said we are monitoring the ground situation in the entire region and subsequently announcing relaxations in a phased manner. Curfew was imposed in Jammu and other districts as a precautionary measure after the August 9 Kishtwar clashes in which three people were killed and four injured. Basheer Ahmad Khan, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, said, 'There was no untoward incident anywhere in the district and we are reviewing the situation on a regular basis.' According to police officials the day curfew in the border district of Samba was lifted on Wednesday. No major incident of violence occurred anywhere during the curfew relaxation period.
