Srinagar: Two youths hailing from outside Jammu and Kashmir, have been arrested in Islamabad, district of south Kashmir on the alleged charges of stone pelting during recent protests against Gool firing incident. Police sources said that Mohammad Afzal of Uttar Pradesh and Mohammad Ibrahim of West Bengal, both in their mid-twenties, were arrested yesterday for their involvement in stone-pelting in Islamabad. They added that the duo, working as labourers, was identified by police from a footage of the stone-pelting mob and was later arrested. This is for the first time in past two decades that any non-state subject was arrested on the charges of taking part in violent protests in the Valley. Several lakh non-local skilled and unskilled labourers turn to Kashmir during summer months for earning their livelihood. Massive protests rocked different parts of Kashmir Valley following last week killing of four persons in security forces firing in Ramban district over alleged desecration of holy Quran.
