BSF Troops Vacate Dharam Camp, Hand It Over To Police

Jammu: After yesterday's firing which led to death of four persons, BSF troops Friday vacated its Dharam camp and handed the facility over to police. Troops at BSF camp in Dharam have been moved to Battalion area in Ramban district and the facility has been handed over to police forces today, a BSF officer said. The move was taken in view of tensions after yesterday's incident, he said. Four persons were killed and 44 others, including security personnel, injured in stone-pelting and resultant firing when a mob attacked a BSF camp in Ramban district over alleged high-handedness by a BSF team. Police have registered three FIRs against BSF officers and cops in connection with the firing incident. 3 FIRs REGISTERED AGAINST BSF Three FIRs have been registered against BSF officials and state police personnel in connection with yesterday's firing in Ramban district which left four persons dead. “We have registered three FIRs at Gool police station in connection with yesterday's firing,” IGP (Jammu), Rajesh Kumar said here Friday. Based on complaints from locals, these FIRs have been registered under various sections and police were already looking into it, he added. Meanwhile, Inspector General of BSF (Jammu Frontier), Rajeev Krishna, said they would also file an FIR over the incident. Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Javed Matoo said police has initiated the process of investigation and has registered three different FIRs in the incident. “We have registered FIR vide No 52 U-s 295-452 RPC, FIR No 53 u-s 307 RPC and FIR No 54 u-s 302 of the RPC,” he said. Police sources, meanwhile, said police have named a Sub-Inspector Muhammad Afzal and unnamed BSF personal of 76 Bn in the FIR registered for killing of four persons. They said three different FIRs were registered “as there were separate incidents of firing and violence on the spot.”
