Night Landing Facility At Srinagar Int’l Airport Brings Joy To Tourism Fraternity

Srinagar: Tourism fraternity of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh today hailed the defence ministry decision to allow night landing facility at Srinagar International Airport up to 10 PM. Terming it a “path breaking” decision, the state-based tourism bodies said it will boost tourism sector and enhance arrivals of corporate and international tourists to Kashmir. In a joint statement issued here today the tourism bodies said: “Late night landing facility will prove helpful for local people and Hajj and Umrah pilgrims many of whom otherwise had to spend night at Delhi while arriving and departing for their journeys.” “The tourism fraternity of the state for the past many years had been vociferously demanding the operation of late night flights to enable the visitors to have an extra day in Kashmir. Furthermore, the MICE tourism which has large potential due to the world class facility in the shape of SKICC in Kashmir will also be boosted.” “The tourism fraternity is highly thankful to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister A K Antony, Governor of J&K N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, Tourism Minister G A Mir and Director Tourism Talat Parvez for making the long standing demand a reality,” it said. “The fraternity also puts on record the efforts of Nawang Rigzin Jora, Nasir Aslam Wani and Farooq A. Shah for their efforts in this regard,” it said.
