Another Ceasefire Violation In Nowgam Sector: Army

Srinagar: A day after a Brigadier and a Colonel were wounded in LoC skirmishes, Army on Sunday said that Pakistani troops violated ceasefire yet again in Nowgam sector on Line of Control (LoC) in frontier district of Kupwara on Sunday evening. According to officials of 15 Corps, Pakistan Army opened fire on Indian posts in Kyan Bowl with small arms. 'Pakistani troopers opened on our posts at around 6.45 pm and the fire continued for one hand a half hour,' officials said adding that there was no loss of life or property. 'We exercised maximum restraint and did not fire,' the officer said adding the developments are being monitored closely. Independent sources said that the incident took places after at least two hours of visit of General Officer Commanding 19 Infantry Division , Major General Vinod G Khandary . ' The GOC visited the area during the day. He met officers and the troopers in the area,' sources said adding General Khandary also met Brigadier Sanjavee who received splinter injuries on Friday in cross border shelling. Pertinently, Pakistani and Indian Army Firday evening exchanged heavy fire in Kyan Bowl area.
