Srinagar: Dr Mustafa Kamal, additional general secretary of National Conference (NC), today accused the central government of surrendered before the army on AFSPA revocation issue. He urged the centre to exhibit strong will and political courage for repealing the controversial law. “The central government is helpless before the Army. They seem to have accepted defeat, though the GoI has many times shown a realization for the revocation of AFSPA. Because of the opposition from the Army, they do not pay much attention towards it now,” said while speaking to news agency KNS. He urged the central government to show political courage before ‘it is too late’. “Chief minister has many times warned centre that AFSPA, if left unattended, can prove to be a spark for a huge fire,” Kamal claimed. Meanwhile, accusing the separatist leadership of adding fuel to fire, he said the separatists were trying to worsen the situation by instigating people for protests and strikes. “Separatists instigate Kashmiri youth for violence. Whatever the cause may be, one thing is clear, they like violence just for the political mileage that they gain out of it,” NC leader said.
