Srinagar: The state government has forwarded to the Centre the representation received from the family of Muhammad Afzal Guru seeking return of his body. According to authoritative sources, the States Home Department Wednesday forwarded the representation of the family to the Union Home Ministry wherein they have demanded return of Afzals body. State Home Secretary, Suresh Kumar told Greater Kashmir that representation was forwarded Wednesday. I forwarded the representation of the family to Union Home Ministry today, he said and added that they have demanded the body of Afzal Guru be returned to the family. It has come through official channels. We have forwarded the same. Sources said the representation was made by Tabasum Guru, wife of Afzal Guru to District Development Commissioner Baramulla through her counsel advocate Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din. I forwarded the representation to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Tuesday. He has forwarded it to the Home Department, DC Baramulla, Khwaja Ghulam Ahmad told Greater Kashmir. Sources said the representation was received by the State Home Department Wednesday and in the afternoon it was forwarded to the Union Home Ministry. Pertinently, the family of Guru, who was executed at Tihar Jail on Saturday, has said their only demand to Government of India was to return his body. The family has rejected the reports that they would visit Tihar jail to offer Fateaha at Afzals grave. The family has said that if the Government assured them return of the body they would accept the offer. They have added that otherwise they can offer Fateaha to him at home also. The family has also rejected to be airlifted to New Delhi for the purpose of visiting the grave. The only thing we want is to return Afzals body, family said. While speaking to a radio on Monday evening, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that if Afzal Guru's family approached him, he would do everything possible to help.
