Srinagar: Following the dissolution of the house committee probing the land grab allegations against Minister for PHE and Flood Control, Taj Mohiuddin, Panthers Party legislator Syed Rafiq Shah blamed ruling National Conference for “patronizing” corruption and “violating” basic foundations of constitution. Communist Party of India (M) Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami also voiced his concern saying the committee dissolution has seriously dented the credibility of the upper house. The five-member committee was constituted after Shah presented some documents during the autumn session, which he claimed were official and accused Taj of grabbing forest land in Shopian district. “Dissolving the committee has violated the basic foundation of committee,” Rafiq told Rising Kashmir. “By doing so, National Conference kept upto its reputation of patronizing corruption in Jammu and Kashmir”. He claimed that he had “irrefutable” evidence against Taj. “My evidence is based on facts. I have documents to prove how much corrupt Taj is. He has usurped the forest land and I have documents to prove it,” Rafi said. He blamed ruling NC for pressurizing the chairman of the legislative council to withdraw the committee probing the land grab by the minister. “Since 1947 NC has worked against Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir. They were responsible for division of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947, massacre of Muslims in Jammu in 1947, 1965, 1971. It was due to corrupt ideology of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah that Kashmir continues to suffer,” the MLC said. Rafiq said he had a meeting with legal advisers and other experts to chalk out future course of action in the case. CPI (M) leader, Tarigami said the dissolution of the committee has seriously affected the credibility of upper house. “The house committee should have been allowed to work. The truth should have come fore. There was no need to withdraw the probing committee,” Tarigami said. He said that the question remained unanswered why the committee was formed and later why there arrived a need to withdraw it.
