Anantnag: Terming militants as ‘our brothers’, Inspector General (IG) CRPF B N Ramesh Tuesday said the militants cannot be held responsible for every wrongdoing in the State. “The militants are our brothers, who somehow have been mislead. I appeal all of them to come forward, shun the path violence and join mainstream,” IG said while talking to media persons on sidelines of a bicycle rally organised by CRPF here. He appealed to the people, who he said have mislead the youth and made them pick up the gun, to come forward and work in tandem with the mainstream people. IG said every wrong doing or incident of terror cannot be attributed to the militants. “There are certain elements, who do not want peace to prevail in the Valley and the stray incidents are handiwork of these elements. Because of these stray incidents, nobody can say that Valley is peaceful. Incidents here and there happen all over the world these days and despite some incidents, the valley has remained peaceful,” he said. “We are the most susceptible targets for militants but this bicycle rally shows how peaceful Kashmir is today. Nobody attacked us as we rode our bicycles from Srinagar to Anantnag,” Ramesh said. He said that nobody should blame the militants unnecessarily and refrain from spreading rumours about the situation in Kashmir. “This cycle rally will send a message to people in Kashmir and outside that peace prevails in the valley”. Referring to the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, he said that there always is widespread speculation before the Yatra that it will be attacked. “However, Kashmir has yet again remained calm and peaceful throughout the whole Yatra period. I thank people of Kashmir for once again showing that there is no threat to anybody visiting Kashmir,” added IG CRPF.
