J&K Official Sacked For Embezzling Govt Funds

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has dismissed a senior civil services officer on the charges of alleged financial irregularities. An official spokesman said Adil Rashid Naqash, Kashmir Administrative Service Officer, was dismissed on the charges of financial irregularities, misappropriation or embezzlement of government money, misuse of official position and violation of conduct rules after a departmental inquiry. “During his posting as additional deputy commissioner and collector, land acquisition, Naqash was accused of misappropriation and embezzlement of over Rs 20 crore that was meant for the widening of the national highway in the district,” he added. Sources said the departmental inquiry was initiated against the officer on the recommendation of the chief secretary after the scam regarding misappropriation of more than Rs 20 crore of land acquisition funds surfaced. The officer was immediately placed under suspension. An FIR has been lodged by the state vigilance organisation and investigations are on, sources said.
