Jammu: Kashmiri Pandits have taken strong exception to Hurriyat Conference chairman Sayed Ali Shah Geelani’s opposition to their return to their homeland. Addressing a joint press conference here today, leaders of Panun Kashmir who included Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman, Panun Kashmir, Dr.M.K.Teng, Chiarman Advisory Panun Kashmir, ON.Trisal, member advisory and the veteran freedom fighter, Daya Krishan Kaul, Vice Chairman, Panun Kashmir said that Geelani’s views are no less than an open declaration of genocidal intentions. “The views articulated recently by none other than the separatist leader Ali Shah Geelani that the transition camps built by the government for the Kashmiri Hindu employees in the valley are aimed at demographic change only underlines the extreme vulnerability of not only these employees but the entire Kashmiri Hindu community living there”, they observed, while adding, “the statement is no less than an open declaration of genocidal intentions”. They said, the suggestion that these Kashmiri Hindus should instead be settled in their original homes and hearths which have been destroyed or usurped through the sinister process of distress sales is preposterous. “The statement by Ali Shah Geelani reflects a determined abhorrence for coexistence and pluralism”, they remarked. They alleged, the Panun Kashmir has considered Geelani as one of the masterminds of the genocide perpetrated on Kashmiri Hindus and hence a person who has committed crimes against humanity .The tolerance shown by the governments in the state and the centre to such leaders is baffling and condemnable, they regretted. The Kashmiri Pandit leaders said, the events and incidents taking place across the state and particularly in the valley clearly indicate that not only the tap of terrorist violence is being opened more but also the ambit of radical communalisation is widening. All symbols of pluralism are being attacked with impunity in the valley and the organs and institutions of society as well as segments of the government machinery are suffering from what should be called as 'Geelani Sicknesses', they claimed. Panun Kashmir leaders said, the organization was fully alive to the activation of cross border firing and infiltration ,systematic and targeted attacks on security personnel ,brazen intimidation of all minorities in the valley and growing stranglehold and stridency of regressive and radical forces. Government claims of growing normalcy seem not only to be ridiculous but an attempt of criminal denial, they alleged. Asserting that these developments only vindicate the stand of Panun Kashmir for the creation of a Union Territory North and East of river Vitasta(Jhelum) in the Kashmir Valley for all Kashmiri Hindus. “In the current context it has become more relevant today”, they asserted. Demanding shifting of the Kashmiri Pandit employees back to Jammu, the Panun Kashmir once again calls upon the governments in the state and the centre to recognise the extreme dangers to the safety of the Kashmiri Hindu employees working in valley and shift them to Jammu before any untoward mishap happens.
