Srinagar: Senior Hurriyat (M) leader Peoples Conference chairman Bilal Gani Lone Wednesday said separatist groups should fight mainstream parties and asserted that his party won’t accept anybody’s ‘hegemony’ within our outside the conglomerate. “Pro-freedom groups should rise above petty issues and fight mainstream parties, who were their bigger political enemies,” Bilal said while addressing gathering of Peoples Conference workers in Ganderbal district. He said Peoples Conference would not accept anybody’s hegemony within or outside Hurriyat but would support and endorse majority decisions of the conglomerate. “Destination of PC is not mainstream politics but it is unfortunate that some of the elements sitting in cozy rooms are trying to make others happy by spitting venom against us,” he said. Bilal said those questioning their pro-freedom character should introspect into their past and then they have right to speak. He said India and Pakistan should prioritize resolution of Kashmir dispute over secondary issues. “Kashmiris were not averse to India- Pakistan trade or bilateral relations. We will not become impediments in trade or other relations between both the countries but they shouldn’t relegate Kashmir issue. Any move to put Kashmir into backburner would have serious repercussions and prove detrimental for the sub-continent,” he said. The PC chairman said status quo is not acceptable to Kashmiris at any cost as it suits only some vested interests from both sides. He paid rich tributes to PC founder late Abdul Gani Lone. “The party will organize a public rally in Langate on May 22 to mark the death anniversary of the visionary leader,” he said.
