Srinagar: Deploring the sale in international markets of duplicate products under the “Made in Kashmir” label as self-destruction, the chairman of the Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Monday said that Kashmiris were losing both, the spiritual as well as the temporal blessings brought by Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan (RA). The Mirwaiz was speaking at a seerat function organised at the shrine of the saint and reformer by the Darasgah-e-Sabah Nusrat-ul-Islam today. Stressing on the need of holding such conferences across Kashmir to spark off urgently needed reforms in society, the Mirwaiz said that Kashmiris were becoming a part of demolishing the legacy left by Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan. “Hazrat Amir-e-Kabeer and those who had accompanied him in bringing the message of Islam to Kashmir had triggered of a religious, spiritual and economic revolution in the region,” the Mirwaiz said. “Besides Islamic values, the Shah-e-Hamadan had brought arts, crafts and industry, enriching the Kashmiri people with new ideas and disciplines,” he said. “Besides changing our destiny, the saint had infused a new spirit in our social and economic life,” he said. “But it is tragic that wittingly or unwittingly we Kashmiris are losing both gifts,” he said. “Along with faltering and weakening in our religious life, we are destroying our economic assets,” he said. “Brand Kashmir, which was renowned the world over for its exquisite, delicate and graceful craftsmanship, has been corrupted into worthless duplicates, duping international buyers and markets,” he said. “This is deplorable and shameful,” he said. In his speech the Mirwaiz recounted how an Arab scholar had been wonder struck by the beauty and the moving eloquence of Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadaan’s invocations known as the Auraad-e-Fathiya. “He asked me the name of its author and I replied that this masterpiece in the belief in Tauheed had been given by none other than Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadaan,” he said. stressing on the learning and understanding of the Auraad.
