Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) working committee members Wednesday demanded the resignation of their chairman, Muhammad Aslam Goni and appealed to president Farooq Abdullah to initiate a CBI probe into the financial scam in the state sport body unearthed recently. More than 40 of the 62 working committee members of the JKCA demanded Goni's resignation at a media conference. Working committee members Mehboob Iqbal and Amrinder Singh Micky told reporters that Goni must step down. 'He has mismanaged the affairs of the association and is even misleading Farooq Abdullah,' said Iqbal. Expressing full faith in Abdullah, the members also wanted him to order an internal probe into the scam after disbanding all office bearers of JKCA. 'We demand stern action against those office bearers against whom the association has lodged an FIR against,' Iqbal said. The FIR was lodged by the association against the treasurer and general secretary. The police raided the houses of these two office bearers in Srinagar and has seized the bank accounts allegedly opened by them to divert the association's funds. The two office bearers have also given Abdullah a clean chit by maintaining that he did not handle or operate the JKCA funds saying he would not even charge travelling expenses for attending the association's meetings.
