Jammu: Protesting VHP leader Praveen Togadia's remarks, some persons today pelted stones at a religious procession in Rajouri town in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting police to lob tear gas shells to disperse them. A group of people, protesting the recent remarks of the VHP International President that allegedly hurt sentiments of a particular community, threw stones at the religious procession. Police fired tear gas shells to scatter the stone-pelters and restore calm in the town, SHO (Rajouri) D S Katoch told PTI. No one was injured in the stone-pelting and tear gas shelling, he said. Additional security personnel were deployed in the town, where tension ran high, to maintain peace. Yesterday, two cops were injured in stone-throwing by members of a particular community protesting Togadia's statement. The VHP International President had visited the border town on Sunday and made some remarks which allegedly hurt the sentiments of a particular community.
