Srinagar: In the wake of differences between Congress leaders and the recent controversy surrounding Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed, the cabinet ministers of the party met here Monday to chalk out future strategy. According to sources, the meeting was held in the office of Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand at Civil Secretariat and all the Congress leaders pledged to work together for strengthening the party. “We organized a meeting for the cabinet ministers where Peerzada was also present. It was important in view of the recent controversy faced by the Congress ministers. All the leaders have pledged unity,” a cabinet minister and senior Congress leader told Rising Kashmir, wishing anonymity. He said the Congress leaders have become victims of politics which forced the ministers to hold a meeting and discuss several issues pertaining to the coalition government. He further informed that PHE Minister, Taj Mohi-ud-Din is going to organize a lunch or dinner for the legislators and ministers of both parties (National Conference and Congress) on February 17 or 18 at his residence with an intention to root out the differences and develop better understanding. The move comes after Congress high command summoned two senior leaders Taj and Tara Chand to Delhi. Sources said the party high command has also taken serious note of the situation leading to the resignation of Peerzada. “They (Congress high command) have also taken stand against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah following which the resignation of Peerzada was also not accepted,” sources said, adding the high command has directed party leaders to remain united.
