Cong Worker Shot Dead In Pulwama

Pulwama: A 45-year-old Congress Seva Dal worker was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Haadpora village in this south Kashmir district on Tuesday. Police sources said Aijaz Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Gani Shah was fired upon by some unidentified gunmen near his house at Haadpora, Pulwama while he was returning home at around 10.45 am this morning. “He sustained critical bullet injuries in chest and abdomen and died on spot,” they said. They said the deceased was a Congress Seva Dal worker and his wife is a Panch. SSP Pulwama, Amit Kumar told Rising Kashmir that the area, where the incident took place, was immediately cordoned off by police. “A massive search operation has been launched to nab the culprits,” he said. “Divisional commander of Lashkar-I-Toiba (LeT) Rehman Bhai was killed in the house of the deceased during an encounter with forces in October last year. May be this may be the reason for his killing,” he said. Kumar said police has launched investigations and the culprits would be booked soon. Meanwhile, police has registered FIR No 15 under section 302 RPC and 7-22 Arms Act. PDP leader Syed Showkat Gayoor has condemned the killing. He has expressing shock over the tragic incident and demanded an impartial probe into the killing. “The guilty should be punished,” he demanded.
