NC Hits Back At Mehbooba For Martial Law Comments27 November 2011
Srinagar: Ruling National Conference Monday hit back at People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti for accusing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of paving way for martial law in the state through proposed amendments in the CrPC. In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the party termed Mehbobba Mufti as a “self-styled leader, devoid of any knowledge of history.” “Before issuing statements, Mehbooba should remember that it was her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who changed colours like a chameleon during his 40-year association with the Congress before forming PDP with LK Advani’s support,” the spokesman said. “It was Mufti Sayeed who tightened the noose around the necks of Kashmiris by giving the Army special powers at the onset of militancy and turned the entire Kashmir Valley into one big prison,” he said. “Besides pleasing Advani, Jagmohan and Mufti wanted to turn the (Muslim) majority in the state into minority. It was Mufti who tried to suppress the voice of people by imposing martial law in Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
