Mumbai Blasts: Omar Abdullah Slams BJP For Blaming Pakistan14 July 2011
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party and its senior leader LK Advani for jumping the gun and blaming Pakistan before the investigations are completed into the Mumbai bombings. “Even 24 hours have not lapsed place since the bombings; the BJP and its senior leader are blaming our neighboring country. Whose hand is behind it?Let enquiry be completed and everything will be crystal clear,” Omar told reporters while condemning the Mumbai bombings. Omar said people should desist from blaming anyone until they know who they are. “It is our bad habit that we first make the charges then we try to gather proof to prove them right. Instead it should have been that we should have gathered proof first and on that basis point fingers,” he said. Quoting the Samjuta Express bombings, Omar said first “the other country” was blamed for it while as it was later proved that people within (our country) committed the crime. “When Samjuta bombings took place, we first blamed an outside country and then we came to know that our people had done it to disturb the communal harmony,” he said. He, however, refrained from being drawn into the issue about whose hand could be behind the bombings. “I can’t say whose hand is behind it. I request until we get proof we should not blame anyone,” he said. Meanwhile, both the hard-line and moderate factions of the Hurriyat Conference have condemned the bombings and described them worst terror attacks. “This (bombings) is a murder of humanity. We expressed our regrets and heartfelt condolence with the families who lost their dear ones in the attack. We condemn this terror act,” said Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Moderate Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also condemned blasts saying these are aimed at derailing the Indo-Pak dialogue process. “Those responsible for these bombings are inhuman people,” he said.
