NC Attacks Mufti’s Record On Kashmir In Attack On PDP11 January 2011
Srinagar: In a blistering counter-attack, the NC on Tuesday brought out a damning indictment of the PDP patron, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, ranging from accusing him of diluting autonomy to forming the STF and committing massacres as union home minister. The NC said that the PDP was an edifice built on lies which had set no precedent during its rule worth emulating. Reacting to a recent statement by the PDP president, Mahbooba Mufti, the NC said that the leaders of the opposition party were given to speaking one lie after another and were adept at sustaining themselves on falsehoods. “Who has the time and the inclination to emulate the PDP’s false promises and wrongdoing,” an NC spokesman said. “Every anti-people act with regard to Kashmir after 1953 has the hand of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed,” he said. “Weakening Article 370, dismantling the state’s bulwark of autonomy, toppling an elected and popular government in 1984 by fabricate defections, and numerous massacres after 1990 as home minister, are all the doing of Mufti,” the NC said. “It was Mufti’s party that gave land worth crores of rupees to the shrine board, a decision the former coalition government overturned on seeing the anger of the masses,” it said. “Every sign of destruction since then is the doing of this incompetent and anti-people party,” it said. “Coming to power on the strength of 16 MLAs, the party made disastrous amendments in the property transfer bill and the state subject law, severely compromising the interests of the Kashmiri people,” it said. “Anyone can see how Mufti can sell the state and its people so cheap on garnering some votes,” it said. The NC accused Mufti of having a hidden agenda of selling off the Dhobi Ghat land in Gulmarg and other tourist spots. “On seeing his advisors and ministers embroiled in the infamous sex scandal, Mufti closed the file, and did not allow this crucial case to be heard,” it said. “People have not forgotten Mufti’s role in desecrating temples in south Kashmir in 1985, as he had decided to take the reins of government into his own hands after inducting a puppet government in 1984,” it said. “It was Mufti who shed rivers of blood in Kashmir through governor Jagmohan after 1990, got the STF instituted and handed the police stations over to this force,” it said. “Later he stained his hands with more blood as scores of youth were liquidated under catch-and-kill operations and hundreds forced to flee Kashmir out of fear,” it said. “Arming the troops and the forces with special powers too was a part of Mufti’s plan, but now the father-daughter duo has embarked on a mission to fool people,” it said.
