New Delhi: Infiltration attempts across the Line of Control continue unabated, with as many as 426 Pakistan-trained terrorists having attempted to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir this year. Defence minister A K Antony on Monday, in a written reply to Lok Sabha, said 1,253 terrorists had tried to infiltrate into J&K over the last three years. While 168 militants were killed, the Army lost 37 soldiers in thwarting infiltration bids since 2008. 'The Army has adopted a robust counter-infiltration strategy, which has an appropriate mix of technology and human resources put together to check infiltration effectively,' he said. 'Establishment of the effective counter-infiltration grid along the India-Pakistan border is dynamic in nature. The posts along the LoC are occupied-held based on tactical considerations depending on the threat, terrain, task and resources. Surveillance and domination of these posts is ensured by maintaining an effective vigil,' he added.
