Ghulam Nabi Azad Says Kashmir Issue Not Simple, But Hopes For Solution21 August 2010
Kolkata: The Kashmir issue may not have an easy solution, but 'there will be light at the end of the tunnel', Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said today. 'The issue is not as simple as you think,' he told newsmen when asked what steps the Centre was taking to resolve the problems in that state. Noting that 62 people were killed since the outbreak of street protests in the Valley from June 11, the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said, 'this is unfortunate. I hope there will be light at the end of the tunnel.' Azad said all-party meetings had been held at the level of the state chief minister and the prime minister. 'A number of suggestions came up in those meetings. They are being implemented.' Violence rocked the Kashmir valley following the death of a teenager, allegedly after being hit by a teargas shell, at the Gani stadium.
