J&K: Rajouri Encounter On For 40 Hrs, Army Jawan Killed

Rajouri: An Army jawan and two terrorists have been killed in an encounter that has been going on in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district since Saturday afternoon. Another Army Major, a policeman and a civilian have also been injured in the encounter. Acting on a tip-off that some militants were hiding in Rajdhani forest belt at Thanamandi, troops of Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area. Police sources said the suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were involved in the attack on an Army convoy at Der-Ki-Gali in Rajouri district on Wednesday.A bus passing through the area was caught in the crossfire and was hit by a volley of bullets in which two passengers were killed and 16 wounded.
