AJK Can Supply 25,000 MW Of Electricity To Pak

Karachi: Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) has a potential to generate 25,000 megawatts of electricity from hydel sources and can supply it to Pakistan. This was stated by the IT Minister of AJK Sardar Farooq Ahmad Tahir while speaking at the inauguration of 5th CONNECT 2010 at Karachi Expo Centre here Saturday. He said that hydel projects for 10,000 MW of electricity have been identified while potentials for more than 15,000 MW were there in AJK. He said the initial cost of this electricity would be Rs 4 to 5 per unit for the first four to five years and later it will cost 15 to 20 paisa for the entire life. The minister said AJK government was disappointed that it was not invited in the recently held energy conference. We could have provide vital information to the participants of the conference, he added.
