Kashmiris Can Compete With Best In India: Omar6 May 2010
Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said Kashmiris can compete with best in the country. Several other ministers and mainstream politicians have felicitated Faesal on his brilliant success. Congratulating Faesal, Omar said that given a level-playing field, Kahsmiris can compete with the best in the country. Faesal topped the list of 875 candidates who qualified in the Civil Service Exam 2009 after a rigorous screening and testing process. “It was not an easy task for the doctor, who lost his father to bullets of militants in the border district of Kupwara, to break into the elite services at his maiden attempt. Faesal has shown a way forward to young Kashmiri boys and girls. He rose from adversity to clinch the top spot in the prestigious examination in his first attempt. He has shown that given a level-playing field, Kashmiris can compete with the best in the country,' Omar said while extending his best wishes to the young doctor. The chief minister said, “This will inspire the youth of state to prepare themselves for any competitive examinations. Faesal has proved that our youth have tremendous potential to do it” Union Minister for Non-conventional and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah also congratulated Faesal saying, 'It is a matter of pride for the entire state. I complement this boy for overcoming all the adversities to achieve this feat.' The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand while felicitating Faesal said he has made Jammu and Kashmir State proud. He hoped that youth of J&K state will be inspired with the achievement of Shah Faesal and work hard to excel in such competitive examination like him in Future. Minister of State for Revenue, H&UDD, Tourism and PHE, Nasir Aslam Wani; Minister for Rural Developments, Panchayats, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar; MLAs, Mir Saifullah and Kafeel-ur-Rehman have also congratulated Faesal on his brilliant performance and topping in civil services exams, the result of which was declared today. The former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti in a joint statement issued here while congratulating Faesal said that a youth from the remotest Lolab area of Kupwara district has proved his capability by securing first position in the entire country. They further said that Faesal’s achievement has also proved intellectual potential of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and his success would inspire others. Senior PDP leaders including MLA Bandipore Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA Sangrama Syed Basharat Bukhari, MLA Shangus Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, MLA Lolab Abdul Haq Khan and National Conference leader Qaiser Jamshed Lone have also congratulated Faesal on his brilliant performance. Bukhari has also congratulated Showkat Ahmad Parray, who hails from Sangrama constituency. Vice Chancellor Central University Abdul Wahid Qureshi and Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Ahmad Renzu has also felicitated Faesal and two other Kashmiris for their success in UPSC examination. Convener J&K RTI Movement, Dr Muzaffar Bhat also felicitated Faesal for topping the IAS exams. “J&K RTI Movement held a meeting of its office bearers and congratulated Faesal’s family on his grand success. Faesal has been moderating the RTI seminars and workshops for the last many years and has been writing regularly on RTI related issue in many papers including Rising Kashmir,” he said. Former SMC Mayor Salman Sagar has said the success of the Faesal and others have set an example and will surely inspire other Kashmiris to excel in any field.
