Srinagar: Police fired teargas shells in Kashmir on Friday to quell violent protests during a strike called against death sentences for three separatists for their role in the 1996 bombing in New Delhi. Hundreds of Kashmiris took to the streets in Srinagar, hurling stones at police and vehicles, burning tyres and blocking roads. 'At least 25 people were injured in daylong clashes,' Parvez Ahmad, a police official said. The strike closed shops, businesses and schools in Srinagar. The bomb explosion in Lajpat Nagar area, a crowded market in the country's capital, killed 13 people.
