Srinagar: Various separatist organizations Wednesday condemned the killing of 17-year-old Zubair Ahmad Bhat allegedly by police and CRPF troopers during clashes in Sopore on Tuesday. Expressing grief over the killing of Bhat, Hurriyat Conference spokesperson said the act of government forces was “unprovoked”. Hurriyat also expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and termed the use of “brute force” on peaceful protesters and undeclared curfew in old city of Srinagar as an example of “fascism”. Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) also condemned the use of brute force over the peaceful protesters in Sopore and the killing of Zubair. DFP spokesperson termed the act as “barbaric” and continuing example of “state-sponsored terrorism”. Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R), Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate also condemned the “atrocities” of CRPF in Sopore. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family Dar said CRPF men and policemen were indulging in human rights violations. Patron of Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Wednesday denounced the killing of Sopore youth Zubair Ahmad Bhat and expressed solidarity with the Bhat family. Zubair was the son of a senior activist of MeA, Ghulan Hassan Bhat of Souf Hamam Sopore. According to locals, Zubair was stoned to death by troopers on Tuesday. Few years back his brother was killed by government gunmen, locals said. Peoples League leader Mukhtar Waza also strongly condemns Zubair’s killing and arrest of youth at different places. “India wants to suppress the liberation movement through military might but it will never succeed in its nefarious designs,” he said. Waza appealed rights organizations to impress upon New Delhi to stop human rights violations in Kashmir. A spokesman of National Front also condemned the killing of the youth and said New Delhi was using all oppressive measures against the people of Kashmir. Tehreek-e-Muzahamat (TeM) also condemned the killing of the youth and termed it as a worst example of “state terrorism”. “The young generation of Kashmir is being brutally murdered by the State government at the behest of New Delhi under a planned conspiracy,” TeM spokesperson said in a statement here. In a separate statement, Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) while condemning the killing of Zubair alleged that such acts prove the “state-sponsored terrorism” and “stone-heartedness” of the government and its forces. Supporting the view of TeM, a MKM spokesperson said: “Indian troops were butchering tender souls of Kashmir in a planned manner.”
