Srinagar: A high alert has been sounded in Kamalkote sector of North Kashmir’s Uri following reports of infiltration by armed militants from Pakistan administered Kashmir. Sources said that following intelligence reports that a group of heavily armed militants were trying to sneak into this side of LoC, Army on Monday sounded an alert along Kamalkote sector of North Kashmir’s Uri. Army’s 1 Rashtriya Rifles, 28 Punjab and 7 Madras posted in the area, they said, have been asked to maintain round the clock vigil to foil any infiltration attempt by militants. Sources said that a large cut in the fence near Khamosh Post has also added to the worries of the security agencies. Meanwhile, a high level Army-police meet was held at Brigade office Uri today morning. The meeting chaired by Brigadier Tanu discussed various measures to prevent the possible infiltration. The meeting also deliberated upon heightened vigil along LoC to thwart any attempt of militant to sneak into this side of the LoC. Despite repeated attempts, Srinagar based Army spokesman, Naresh Vijay Dij could not be contacted for comments.
