NC Leader Castigates Separatists For Calling Bandhs Frequently
3 August 2009
: Lashing out at separatists for giving frequent calls for strikes, senior National Conference leader Mubarak Gul on Monday said the bandhs were adversely affecting the State's economy and those calling them were 'enemies' of the people. 'Peace is imperative for the development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir. Those asking for frequent bandhs and hartals are enemies of people as due to strikes development process gets derailed and economy is adversely affected', he said addressing public meetings at Pahalgam, 96 kms from here. Mr. Gul, who is also advisor to the Chief Minister, said people must understand the nefarious design of the people responsible for bringing miseries to the common man. Time has come to give them a befitting reply and contribute towards development and progress of the State. Noting that Kashmir has a limited working season, he said 'if time is lost in hartals and bandhs, it is difficult for government to make use of funds for different schemes'. The NC leader also said he would look into the demand of locals for a bridge over the river Lidder connecting Dachnipora with Khowerpora. He also called on Mahant Dipender Giri, who is leading the holy Chharri Mubarak to Amarnath Shrine, and enquired about the arrangements for final darshan on Raksha Bandhan.
