Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) candidate Abdul Rashid Ganai escaped unhurt in a grenade attack by militants in Kangan constituency of Ganderbal, official sources said on Sunday. Unidentified militants hurled a grenade towards the house of Ganai at Kangan late last night but the explosive missed the intended target and exploded in the compound of the house without causing any damage, the sources said. Security forces immediately sealed the area around the house and carried out a thorough search. However, no one was arrested during the operation, the sources said, adding the militants had fled the scene immediately after hurling the grenade at the heavily-guarded residence. Kangan alongwith Ganderbal constituency of Ganderbal district and four constituencies of Rajouri district went to polls in the second phase of assembly elections on Sunday.
