Eight Armymen Missing After Avalanche Strike

New Delhi: Two Army officers and six soldiers went missing in an avalanche in the Kanzalwan area of north Kashmir on Monday evening after they mounted an operation to rescue a porter who fell into a deep gorge. 'Radio contact with the eight soldiers has been lost. There is heavy snow all around. Rescue operations are in full swing to find them as well as the porter,' said an officer. The eight soldiers were reportedly climbing down the gorge in search of the porter when the heavy avalanche struck them around 6 pm. Till reports last came in, there was no trace of them.
